UGLYny.com is a modeling agency based out of Europe that opened a branch in NY back in 2007. They representing what they call, "striking and nontraditional models." It was started by Simon Rogers, who based the NYC branch off his 30 year old, London's Ugly Models agency. The agency represents everything from sumos, midgets, old people, all the way to us tattooed folk. Not to mention some "traditional" gorgeous models too! They have scored models high-profile jobs from ad campaigns with Levi's jeans, to Nike, Nokia, VH1 etc. (So yes Mom, they're legit :) I sent in an application on Jan 26th, and am waiting to hear back from them... After asking around, and doing a little research, it seems to be the only legit agency that would take someone like me (i.e. not 5'9, tattooed, but not goth). A note to end this post on, an Ugly NY talent scout was quoted saying, and I highly agree with:
"We really think this is a new concept in America. It reflects a recent shift in the advertising world toward 'real guy' mode, to people with character."
