Photo Shoot Recap Of Booshie Designs Shot By Tony Veloz

A snap shot of the 12 dresses shot yesterday
Putting my mullet into full affect in a gorgeous sequin and polka dot dress
Up close and blurry with full make up and a wig on :D
Me behind the scenes in my favorite Cupcake/Alice in Wonderland dress with stripper heels. I loved this look!!
In the background of the above pic you can see make up artist Rachelle Dalton working on one of the other two models. Rachelle was great doing all three of us model's hair and make up, keeping each look unique and fresh! I have never worked with her before, but it was a true pleasure and I love how the looks turned out! :) Working again with Tony Veloz Photography was also a sincere pleasure, he is so fun, light hearted and constructive with direction, but not overbearing it always makes for such a fun and easy atmosphere! Ginger was styling us all, sewing each outfit to perfection, while great music blared though the empty night club. We ended up shooting well past midnight, but we all had so much fun, and everyone seemed to be pleased with there performance, so I can't wait to see the pictures!! Stay posted for Tony's pics coming shortly!!

Getting Booshie In Vegas

me in a wig

The dress she was kind enough to let me keep!
Seriously, I'm just a nerd who carries a briefcase full of random shit, wheres a tutu, glasses and walks around in the middle of the day with a drink. Meh.
Ginger and I spent all week collecting random shit to put in my party briefcase
Contents include: loto tix, champagne, squirt gun, dirty magazine, shot glasses, and so, SO much more :D
Ginger and I in the VIP @ LAX wearing Booshie

My good friend, and epic designer Ginger of Booshie Design came out to Vegas this week to visit me and do a photo shoot :D And I'm so glad she did, we had a lot of fun! All the above outfits are her designs, and are unedited pics from super fun photog Jerry (TwoHalfs Photography). We did the shoot last night, and he already send me these proofs!! Ginger did the make up and styling, I did the hair. It was one of the harder shoots I've done because it was soooo cold, 48 degrees :O and I was wearing summer dresses. Yeah, cold. It reminded me of this shoot with Bo in the snow. Anyways, so it's hard to think about posing, expression etc when all you can think is any minute you might die of hypothermia :) But it's really fun to see pictures with Vegas in the background, and I'm so happy my first shoot here was with Ginger! AND she gave me the above black dress to keep, score!! Well, we wrapped the shoot last night at about 10:30pm, then from the shoot Ginger and I went to LAX, an awesome club at the Luxor, and somehow made it into a hidden VIP bar and drank PB & J martinis (that were pretty much and orgasm in a cup!) It was a fun shoot, and an awesome night, the perfect ending to a great week with my girl Ginger :) Stay posted for the edited versions of these!

Sunriver Photo Shoot With Lindsay

Location #1. Yeah, I made that dress.
Road to Mt. Bachelor
Second location upstream view
Downstream view
My mom's artistic shot ;)
Big bottom tree hugger
The location is sorta like inside at a DC studio...wait
If you've shot with me, you know I try to go balls deep. I saw this stump and said, how about I climb up on that shit?! Lindsay said-Do it! :)
Yeah, I'm stumped. The crazy sky reminds me of Carey Hess' shit.
Balls deep part 2. "How about I jump off this shit a couple times"
Look #3. 'Yeah I'm in Oregon. I'm kinda cowboy.'
The photographer Lindsay and I
The glamorous life of modeling. Changing and makeup in the backseat :)

So besides sunbathing, playing tennis, and shopping there isn't a lot to do in Sunriver :) My mom is going back to Alabama next week, and I thought it would be fun for my mom and Grandpa to see what I do. So luck have it, I searched Model Mayhem and found a photographer in Sunriver! He was kind enough to set up a shoot in short notice, and we were able to shoot today! Lindsay lives out here and knew of some beautiful local locations that he thought would diversify my portfolio. He was super easy to work with and gave great articulate direction but left room for improvisation. Something unique about his shooting style was early into the shoot he asked me what I though my best feature and my least favorite feature was. That way if say I didn't like my left side, he wouldn't send me a shit ton of my left side shots, etc. I thought that was really thoughtful. We shot essentially three looks, two locations. The biggest challenge was wardrobe. I hadn't planned on doing a photo shoot, so I didn't really bring the most fashionable clothes, but I hope he was pleased with the shit I threw together, it was fun to shoot again! :) Special thank you to Joanie, my mom, for all of the wonderful pics!

PHOTO SHOOT RECAP: Bo Zhang and The Crew @ My House

Already a pic!!

Maddy doing the damn thing in her first outfit
My first outfit, with lightning bolt Warren in the background
The polaroid from my house party that inspired it all. (Just wait until you see the pics we did like this!)
Start to finish, Warren makes a piece of art out of anyone! (Me wearing a custom made Booshie tee)
Artist at work
Artist at work.

Ms. Booshie herself, Ginger and I
Warren the McGiver's secrets reveled, A TEA BOX!
The culprit. Who knew a tea box could be so fierce?!

They say when you love what you do, you'll never work a day, and last night's photo shoot exemplified that. Great people and a great time!
Where to begin... the whole 'family' was there, Bo Himself, his assistant Joey( he also helped Bo in the jungle shoot), Ginger (Booshie Design), the artist formally known at WarrenBe, and newbies but goodies: stylist and new found neighbor, Natasha and model/new friend, Maddy. What a great, and talented group of people to work with- A true honor!
Warren (who's b-day is tomorrow!!) did both Maddy and I's hair, and make up, so he was busy making us into pieces of art, while Ginger and Natasha were a great team coordinating complete and cohesive looks in my guest bedroom. This shoot elucidates how attention to detail takes good to great. Each person, a master in their craft, put the time and thought into this shoot, and I really think it will show in the pics! Well, the first set we did was a two girl shoot with Maddy and I and the above chair from the polaroid in my backyard. We covered everyone with bug spray, played some fat beats on the ipod player and went to work. It was a fun experience because neither Maddy, Bo or myself have ever done a two girl shoot together. But Maddy's really cool, and Bo was great with direction, so it was a fun, and different experience. Then Bo did individuals with each of us, and on to the next outfit. The second looks were individual shots (the above is an example) with more emphasis on motion, and Ginger's dresses worked immaculately!! After seven hours, we finally wrapped about midnight. I found myself in sweats, sprawled out on the couch with a Natural Light beer in my hand and a tea box in my hair. A success :) Stay posted for Bo's pics!

PHOTO SHOOT RECAP: Bo Zhang @ His New Studio

One day after the shoot, and he already sent me a pic! You can click on it to see it bigger :)

Behind the scenes of the commercial look we did
Yvette (the make up artists) and I on set!

Where to begin with a photo shoot with Bo Himself... Bo is the photographer I've worked with the most, and known the longest. But this was the first time, I really felt like I got to know him. If you are lucky enough to know Bo, you would most likely know the business side of him. He is very polite, organized, and driven. But yesterday I got to see the charming, personable Bo that is candid and laughs out loud, I always thought was there, but just am beginning to see.

When we shoot, it's like a dance, so much fun! He bosses me, I tell him I'm going to punch him in the face, and we're laughing the whole time. The make up artist Yvette and Bo's assistant probably thought we were lunatics! "Move you're head slightly to the left, chin up." "Tell me that one more time and I'm going to punch you in the face." :) And it's great working with someone more than once because it really challenges you. What can I bring differently, etc. And Bo gave me such a wonderful complement, and said he thinks I am growing as a model :) What a lovely thing to hear! Though I was telling him, I don't think of myself as a model. To me, I got to go hang out with my friend, have a great time, and watch him make art.

About the shoot: We did essentially three looks. The first looks were actually some of the most challenging I've ever done. 'Commercial' ie casual, t-shirt/jeans/oversized men's shirt, smiling kind of thing. It was hard to do without looking totally fake, and cheesy, and trying to keep subtle but diverse poses. But both Bo and I need more of that genre for our portfolios, and knowing Bo, there going to turn out bossy!

After we banged some of that out, we got into the good stuff: wet hair, head shots (above, I love it!!) and then we went outside in his backyard and did a few quick out doors shots (before Bo got completely eaten alive by mosquitoes!) I know you're going to love those shoots: wet hair, camo dress I made, crazy African stick, SO much fun!

After the shoot, Bo let me exploit his Costco card and we went and printed some of my portfolio pics ( $3.99 for 11x14's!!!) Then he took me to get a bigger portfolio @ The Container Store ($15 for an 11 x 14 one!!!) Because all the cool kids are printing their portfolios at this size :) It was such a productive day!

After all that, Bo showed me some of the raw shots he'd taken from the day. It changed my life. Seriously, seeing your face that big and close up without photo shop. Horrifying. I still want to vomit a little bit thinking about it. Have you ever seen a picture so up close you see your pores? Ever little wrinkle and hair.... jesus. I mean, as a photo major in college, I spent my fair share of time staring at people's faces, dodging, burning and color correcting, but NEVER at 400%, fixing ever little wrinkle, fold and fat ass. I don't know, it's an experience everyone should see. Our perception of beauty and fashion is so skewed, and manipulated.... But on the other hand, we (or at least I) completely underestimated the amount of time, thought and effort great photographers put into their work to make it look so wonderful and professional.

So Sesame Street's lesson of the day: Printing your portfolio 11x 14 looks sooo much better, a TON of work goes into processing one picture, and when you love what you do, it's never work :) Stay posted for more pics to come!

Sebastian Runway Show And Photo Shoot

Myself and one of the other models after the runway show, great hair right? :)
Me with "two of the industry's leading hairdressers," Chris and Sonya Dove

The Sebastian models (me on the far right), after the photo shoot
THE "amazing creative genius,” [Salon Daily], Marylle Koken styling my hair

So my homey Danny, aka Visceral Photography (you can see some of my earlier work with him here) hooked me up with an audition for a Sebastian (hair product company) runway show and photo shoot. And, luckily, I was chosen to be of the 5 models for this sweet, well paying gig! It was a complete blast getting paid to hang out with my good friend, and get a free cut and color by the best in the industry! Score. :) It started Sunday morning at 9am. The event was at the posh Westin in Alexandria. We got catered 3 meals a day, the rooms were beautiful, it was a real treat to be involved in! The runway show was at 7pm on Sunday, but I kid you not when I say they worked on our hair from 9am-6pm. Honestly. Highlights, wash, low lights, wash, hair mask, wash etc. But these hair stylists (rather, hair artists) were flown in from around the world to showcase their talent. Each had at least 4 assistants, you would have thought they were doing an operation! Example- "comb" (assistant would hand over comb) "bobby pin" (different assistant) "foil" (seriously, 3rd assistant) It was a trip! But as you can see from the above pics, these professionals weren't messing around the hair looked great! I was fortunate to get to work with the most stylish stylist I've ever met, Marylle Koken (in above shot, seriously check out her profile) She lives in LA and her clients have included some no name people you may have heard of, such as I don't know, Paris Hilton, Jack Nicholson, Claudia Schiffer, Jack Osbourne, Nine Inch Nails and America’s Next Top Model. Just to name a few :) Nice. Well, the runway show went really smooth, with a huge turnout, and even my best friend since I was 14, Ali, was there!! After the show we did some mingling and I got my pic with hair style guru's, The Doves. You would have thought they were the Obama's with the line of people waiting to get a pic with them! Then we wrapped for the night around 9pm, but we were back there for an early 8am call time this morning! Today was the photo shoot. The Sebastian stylists did our hair in front of a high paying group of local hair stylist, then they got to watch us do a photo shoot. Today was my favorite day, I pretty much got paid to hang out with Danny :) It was surprisingly really laid back for shooting in front of about 100 people. The Sebastian stylists were all real laid back, the attendees seemed stoked about being there, it was great. Danny and I have mostly just done runway shows together, so this was our first real studio shoot together. But Danny's a pro, giving great, and really helpful direction to the other models who hadn't ever done a photo shoot before. When it was my turn we just fucked off making jokes and having a good time. Then we wrapped at noon. Easy peezy. All and all, the Sebastian people were all complete dolls, and I love their products, and I got to kick it with Danny, so it was a great experience! Be sure to stay posted for Danny's pics, coming soon!

Bo Zhang's Pictures From The Chesapeak Bay Photo Shoot

you can click on each one to see it larger:

I love them... :)

I can't decide which one is my favorite!! My earlier recap of this shoot can be read here, and you can read Bo's in his blog, Photos and styling by Bo himself, makeup by Chontae, and the outfit in black and white photos, is by Booshie Design. I am so elated, and honored to have the opportunity to work with such talented people :)
