My New Hair Color!! (Pics by Bo Zhang)

So as you may know, if you follow me on Twitter, that I dyed my hair!! I went to PR @ Partners Metro Center and asked Jackie, that I worked with on the Betsey Johnson runway show to dye my hair any color she wanted. Above is the vibrant color she chose. Last minute I wanted some pics before I left to Oregon and begged Bo Himself (plus I wanted to hang out one more time :) he kindly obliged and the outcome are the AWESOME pics above. It was really last minute, and just a quick shoot, so I did the hair and make up. Brought along my heels I got in New York, and cute little H & M dress I got up there. The white background is perfect for making my new hair color pop, and that bottom shot... sexy. Xoxox Bo thank you so much for pulling through so last minute!!

When one of your BF's a photographer...(Part II)

Visceral Photography, aka one of my best friends, e-mailed this little gem he took from the Sebastian event we did together back in June. I loved having a mohawk, I loved the eye shadow in this shot, and lighting is gorgeous. Plus I think this pose is bossy... :)

Modeling side note: I am looking directly into a flash that is being blasted away in my eyes. Not the most ideal, but the outcome is on point. And being the tool I am, many times I forget to shave one, or both armpits, and I'm always nervous at photo shoots that the photographer is going to be mad at me, so I don't always take risks like this pose... meh

Sebastian Runway Show And Photo Shoot

Myself and one of the other models after the runway show, great hair right? :)
Me with "two of the industry's leading hairdressers," Chris and Sonya Dove

The Sebastian models (me on the far right), after the photo shoot
THE "amazing creative genius,” [Salon Daily], Marylle Koken styling my hair

So my homey Danny, aka Visceral Photography (you can see some of my earlier work with him here) hooked me up with an audition for a Sebastian (hair product company) runway show and photo shoot. And, luckily, I was chosen to be of the 5 models for this sweet, well paying gig! It was a complete blast getting paid to hang out with my good friend, and get a free cut and color by the best in the industry! Score. :) It started Sunday morning at 9am. The event was at the posh Westin in Alexandria. We got catered 3 meals a day, the rooms were beautiful, it was a real treat to be involved in! The runway show was at 7pm on Sunday, but I kid you not when I say they worked on our hair from 9am-6pm. Honestly. Highlights, wash, low lights, wash, hair mask, wash etc. But these hair stylists (rather, hair artists) were flown in from around the world to showcase their talent. Each had at least 4 assistants, you would have thought they were doing an operation! Example- "comb" (assistant would hand over comb) "bobby pin" (different assistant) "foil" (seriously, 3rd assistant) It was a trip! But as you can see from the above pics, these professionals weren't messing around the hair looked great! I was fortunate to get to work with the most stylish stylist I've ever met, Marylle Koken (in above shot, seriously check out her profile) She lives in LA and her clients have included some no name people you may have heard of, such as I don't know, Paris Hilton, Jack Nicholson, Claudia Schiffer, Jack Osbourne, Nine Inch Nails and America’s Next Top Model. Just to name a few :) Nice. Well, the runway show went really smooth, with a huge turnout, and even my best friend since I was 14, Ali, was there!! After the show we did some mingling and I got my pic with hair style guru's, The Doves. You would have thought they were the Obama's with the line of people waiting to get a pic with them! Then we wrapped for the night around 9pm, but we were back there for an early 8am call time this morning! Today was the photo shoot. The Sebastian stylists did our hair in front of a high paying group of local hair stylist, then they got to watch us do a photo shoot. Today was my favorite day, I pretty much got paid to hang out with Danny :) It was surprisingly really laid back for shooting in front of about 100 people. The Sebastian stylists were all real laid back, the attendees seemed stoked about being there, it was great. Danny and I have mostly just done runway shows together, so this was our first real studio shoot together. But Danny's a pro, giving great, and really helpful direction to the other models who hadn't ever done a photo shoot before. When it was my turn we just fucked off making jokes and having a good time. Then we wrapped at noon. Easy peezy. All and all, the Sebastian people were all complete dolls, and I love their products, and I got to kick it with Danny, so it was a great experience! Be sure to stay posted for Danny's pics, coming soon!

WEEKEND REVIEW: Sly Horse & Sebation Hair Show

This weekend on Saturday I went to the Sly Horse meet and greet. I had the opportunity to shot with the darling Sarah Beth Faison (Sweet Trade Photography), and my BF, Danny (Visceral Photography)-who took the above shot. I also got to meet the wildly talented, Tim Prendergast. He was booked for the event, but we talked about perhaps doing a shoot in Chinatown, so keep your finger's crossed for that one! But on the whole, the event was terrible! Thankfully I did my research, and touched bases with the above photographers, because there were a lot of skeezy GWC's (guys with cameras), and I'm not looking to waste my time with some D-Bags. Example- Danny's would set up lighting for a shoot, and skeezies would come in and just start snapping their flashes, messing with Danny's flash! Yuck! AND these tools wouldn't even ask me!! How rude is that?! I don't know you, you haven't even introduced yourself, and you think you can just go and snap pics? Whoah....

"I feel disgusted to be associated with a mee tup like that. The only reason I go are are to see the few gems that are there, like you and Sarah." -Danny (that's why we're BF's, we don't like losers)

So I guess lesson learned. But I can't completely hate, because I did get to meet Sarah and Tim, and catch up with Danny... but I sure as hell wouldn't go to one of those meet ups again!

Sunday night was really fun, though! Jackie the owner of PR @ Partners Metro Center and creator of the make up line Pretty By PR, (who also did my hair for the Betsey Johnson runway show) asked me to come model for a Sebation hair product launch party her salon was hosting. Of course I said yes! (It didn't hurt that she threw in a $250 gift certificate for services by her, and the above Flaunt gift set! :) I also got a wonderful paraffin hair treatment, and my make up done! At the event the Sebation people were launching their new Flaunt Collection,

"Flaunt’s star product, Trilliant goes the distance with its multiple benefits ranging from thermal protectant and shimmer complex to moisturizer, anti-frizz protectant and volumizer, replacing the need for spending dollars on several styling products with just one multi-faceted product." -talkingmakeup.com

Which is a great product I have to say! Also in the gift set is an exclusive t-shirt designed by the wonderful designer, Charlotte Ronson. If you haven't heard of her, you may know of Samantha Ronson, Charlotte's sis and Lindsey Lohan's (maybe) ex-girlfriend. Anyways, enough US weekly update, but this uber exclusive tee isn't even out until late May, and only in select salons!! Nice. :) I highly recommend PR @ Partners, every time I work with them, I absolutely love the outcome! And stay posted to see what I do with my $250 worth of hair services..... ;)

PR at Partners Photo Shoot

Waaayyy back in January I replied to casting call for hair models for PR at Parners (a chain of great, edgy salons here in DC) and was selected by the super stylish and talented Aja at the Reston location. She wanted to do a Boho look with me. I have also worked with a different location of PR at Partners for the Betsey Johnson runway show I did (blog entry here). Well, I guess once a year all the hair stylist from all the locations compete in different categories, and I was chosen for the 'blow out' section. But Aja is such a doll, she ended up cutting and dying my hair as well (over a $300 in services!!) And for the icing on the cake, she even gave me the darling shoes she got for me to wear for the shoot! It was a really fun experience and I got to work with Miami photographer Stredwick (check out his work, it's pretty bossy) So please, everyone cross your fingers that my picture scores Aja the win!!! :)

I'm Getting A Weave!

About this length, maybe a little longer. :) How fun huh?! The salon I worked with for the Howard Runway show, Joya, is doing it for a great price. You may be thinking, weave? Right, but I met with the woman, and she said getting it bonded (aka extensions) is a. bad for your hair, and b. doesn't stay in as long. A weave will stay in for 3 weeks, then you can get it tightened and it can stay in over a month, then you can reuse the hair to get it re-weaved in. If you get it bonded you have to buy more hair when it grows out. I'm so excited I'm getting it done Thursday, so I'll have it for the Capitol Magazine shoot and I'll have some professional pics! :) Stay posted.
