May 2010: Life & Things I'm into

I don't know... I'm on the pursuit of happiness. This blog was initially started as a journal and I'm exemplifying that in this post. This is the soundtrack to my life.....

Some people like to write on their hand. I do.
Found these tattoos at my favorite store in Portland, Compound.
So we wore them out Saturday @ Aura. I have no idea what that says....
Things I'm into: Hi-Chew and temporary tattoos.

A Day In The Life

A day in the life of me: good food and local hot spots. Ship it.

Saw this wondering around today. If you know me, you would know I only have about 5 words in my vocabulary. One in which I picked up living in Vegas: ship it. And it's so fitting for the awesomeness I'm about to talk about below...

First stop of the day is at mi amore, Voo Doo Doughnuts for a, below, maple bacon bar ($2.50 each). I probably go twice a week for one of these babies. If you don't know about these, you should.

My favorite Korean, and one of Portland's best club promoters, John Kim (definitely follow him on Twitter) is always talking about Koi Fusion. And if Mr. Kim says it's good, it must be.

Me and my shit mullet in all it's glory with the world famous, John Kim

So a block away from Voo Doo I ran into the highly talked about
Koi Fusion truck. I felt like I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!! :o
So of course I ordered a handful of these wonderful jewels (only $3 each)! If you ever get the chance, find this truck!!

Eating all this delicious food cured my hangover from all the fanfricking-tastic Crown on the rocks I had at Portland City Grill (below) high atop Portland, 30 floors up in the US Bancorp Tower.
I have allllways wanted to go here, and last night I was fortunate enough to get to go! I highly recommend it in Portland it's a chill, romantic beautiful place with an amazing and affordable happy hour!

The epic view from the restaurant

So there you have it. A day in the life of a derelict. But if you want a fun afternoon, all three of these spots are within walking distance, and for less than $20 bucks you can taste some of Portland's finest. Ship it.

Eighteenth Street Lounge, Washington DC

Undercover in DC's coolest night club...

Me with the General Manager of the Lounge, and our personal bartender for the photo shoot, Carlton

"Yeah we're Booshie" Me and Booshie's designer, Ginger

The lounge was raging, and on a Wednesday night!!

We closed the lounge down, along with this couple....at least someone's night ended well....

On Wednesday night, Ginger took me back to the spot we did the photo shoot with Tony Veloz, Eighteenth Street Lounge. During the photo shoot the lounge was closed, so it was completely empty. But Ginger promised me it was her favorite spot in DC, and always crowded and fun. When I lived in DC, I really hated the nightlife, but this lounge is AWESOME!! Best nightlife place I've been to in DC. If you are ever in the neighborhood, you must check this hidden gem out!!

Friday Night At The Nines, And Studio 1

My brother and I's friend Dani came up from Eugene last Friday for her birthday. Well the hottest spot on a Friday in Portland is Studio 1 because Dj Tj plays there! So the ladies got a room at the Nines, and stayed the night to party with T.I.P. (aka my brother and I)

The ladies in their room toasting with an amazing bottle of champagne my brother bought

Before we headed to the club, we got a bite to eat at The Nine's posh restaurant, Urban Farmer.

Me and some of the girls at dinner
My brother and I at dinner

My brother and I's friends at IN Nightlife pulled out all the stops for us once we got to Studio One! They comped us admission, we didn't have to wait in line, got us VIP tables right next to the Dj booth, a bottle of champagne, shots, etc!! If you want to party in Portland, these are the guys to do it with! Much love to Ty, Dusty, and Mayo, thanks for making it such a great night! :D

The girls and I having fun our VIP section
The crowd on the top floor.

Below, Portland's greatest Dj, Dj Tj and the birthday girl. As always he played back to back hits all night, including my brother and I's favorite song, 1980 by Dirt Nasty (See above video)!!! Thank you again! :D
My brother and the birthday girl! Thanks for sharing it with us, we hope you had a great time!!!

My Favorite Restraunts In Oregon: The Hotcake House, The Taco House and Helvatia Tavern

MY FAVORITE, AND CLASSIC PLACES TO EAT IN OREGON:

Most of these places I've been going to my whole life, so I can vouch they are the greatest places to eat in Portland!

THE HOT CAKE HOUSE

This is my hands down favorite place to eat in Oregon, thus it must come first. My dad has lived right up the street from this place, almost my whole life, so I've been going since I was just a tot. The man in the below picture has been working there for 27 years, this guy is The Hot Cake House. This place has amazing food, decent prices, it's just a short distance from downtown and open 24 hours. Obviously the perfect after clubbing munchies spot, or next morning hang over recovery center :) It's perfect anytime of the day. I love this place so hard.

Can't miss this sign
Um... Yes please!
Are you kidding me with this shit?! Do you SEE those biscuts and gravy in the background?!

THE ORIGINAL TACO HOUSE
After The Hot Cake house, just scoot up the road to my other favorite house, The Original Taco House. This place is money. Grew up not far from this place, so another place I've been going to since diapers. And once you see the below taco salad, you'll understand why. This place is my favorite in the winter with it's big fireplace you can cozy up to. Oregon does have some amazing Mexican food, and this is one of the best! Be sure to get some cinnamond things for dessert!! :)

TACO SALAD!!!

HELVASIA TAVERN
Talking about places not fucking around, Helvasia Tavern. I mean, I should have known when we had to drive through 15 min of corn and hay fields, and there were dirtbikes parked out front. If that wasn't a dead giveaway we weren't in Kansas anymore, the menu with three things on it (well, maybe a few more but...) this places isn't fucking around with their burgers. For an aspiring vegetarian, I could be a complete vegetarian if it weren't for damn burgers. I love burgers. Thus I like to think of myself as a burger, maybe not conosur, but lover definitly. That being said, the best burger I've ever had. Yeah, I went there. I said it. I hope you'll take me seriously, and make the huck out to Helvasia (near Hilsboro) for the best damn burger and onion rings on this planet.

RC sign and dirtbikes, really? Here's your sign they serve PBR on tap, and take cash only. But don't let that deter you!
Um, yeah.....
My kind of place.
